Lead Psychiatrist | Director

 Julie's clinical practice has evolved across both public and private mental health settings, including as a medical officer in the Australian Defence Force to admitting consultant Psychiatrist at Deakin Private Hospital PTSD ward.

She is board certified with the Australasian College of Lifestyle Medicine and is passionate about recovery occurring within people's own lives. She has a strong focus on trauma-informed care and is known for her integrative, patient-centred approach.  She formed the Bluegum team to foster a recovery focused, therapeutic environment where patients are mobilised to achieve improved health outcomes.

Program Lead

Prior to his 15 years in the Army, Jim trained and worked as a social worker. He joined the Army and found his way to SAS which saw deployments and periods of overseas service before making the transition back to civilian life. 

Jim worked as a Security Advisor on events including the 2004 Athens Olympics, the 2007 World Swimming Championships, and the 2003 Rugby World Cup, before finding a rewarding career as a project manager. 

Jim led a not-for-profit employment agency for veterans for 2 years and has an active network across both first responders and Defence veterans.

He provides support across the range of programs bluegum delivers and is focused on growing the rural based programs to support the clinical work.

Program Lead

The son of a NSW Policeman and with significant experience over many years in the ADF, as a veteran Carl has a strong commitment to the well-being and good health of first responders and veterans.

With over 11 years’ experience at major Australian corporations, Carl combines a strong operational and leadership background.

Carl's operational roles lead to a specialised interest in how personality impacts leadership, and he is a certified Gallup Strength Based coach 

Carl fosters rich and meaningful engagement with his participants in a safe and relaxed, and humorous environment and is passionate about fostering recovery and the growth of people.

He looks forward to working with you.

Preventative Medicine Lead

 Prior to graduating from the University of Newcastle, Dr Tor was in the Army Reserve and subsequently was a Medical Officer in the RAAF.

After separation from Defence Tor worked as an expat GP in Singapore and Hong Kong, and subsequently working as a GP in rural and regional Australia. 

Her interests are in chronic medicine medical conditions especially over 50’s (men and women), preventative medicine de-prescribing (reviewing medication), nutrition, weight loss and mental health including grief counselling.

Medical Lead

Dr Anthony has a background in general and emergency medicine, and continues to work in veteran and rural communities providing practical and experienced health care. As a military veteran with significant operational service 

Anthony brings a deep commitment to the health and well-being of first responders and veterans. 

He will lead the medical support for Decompression packages, and deliver individual health assessments and lead the allied health teams tailored for each program.

Outdoor Lead

  Mick comes to the team to contribute to the practical side of the business. With 20 years experience in the education field, Mick has taught all around Australia in primary and secondary education; in government and private schools; and in city, regional and remote settings.

With a passion for outdoor education as well as resilience and problem-solving development, Mick combines this with his other passion - agriculture and the outdoors. 

It’s important to Mick that he is always building new capacity, new skills, new ideas and perspectives and he will bring this approach to the work of Bluegum Health as we look to improve and heal people on their way through their own journeys.  

Den Hanrahan

Music Therapist

 Den Hanrahan is a singer-songwriter who has spent his life in the company of music. He has taught and performed across Australia and overseas, and his songs tell the stories of modern Australia... from the red dust of the landscape to the loves and losses that have touched his life. 

We are privileged to have Den on the Team, as his love of music will provide a more rich and diverse experience for us all.
