Dr Julie's unique work history and eventual fellowship in Psychiatry did not follow a standard pathway. Her own military and life experiences inform her approach to clinical work, with swings and roundabouts considered part of any growth and recovery journey.
She provides clinical leadership and oversight for all health professionals involved with bluegum HEALTH, ensuring all clinicians are top shelf. While standard screening assessments are required upon intake, the capture of a life story timeline is considered critical in understanding where a person is at and initiating treatment.
Group work for selected participants is heavily psycho-educative, exploring topics such as:
Participants gain a clearer understanding of how the body’s stress systems shape behaviour, decision‑making, and recovery capacity; and the impacts on self-agency and the biological foundations of resilience. A collaborative roadmap to access effective care is established with recommendations, from routine check-ups to specialised and emerging treatments.
Longer-term change to enhance wellbeing, cognitive performance, and sustained self-health leadership is reviewed using 'bluegum one':
Delivering health care in a regional environment is deliberate and designed to facilitate focus on an individual's unique needs, away from usual life distractions. There are no standardised treatment offerings, rather the focus is around building a toolbox of therapy recommendations and options that work for the actual individual seeking change and support.
Everything from psychopharmacology to lifestyle and assisted therapies is considered. The bluegum HEALTH psychiatry practice is bespoke, authentic and out of the box, with progress and functional recovery the expected outcome.
