Psychiatry services are lacking in rural Australia, where geographic isolation, workforce shortages, and limited access to care contribute to disproportionately high rates of mental illness, suicide, and psychological distress. 

Resilience is often sorely tested by rural life and Bluegum Health is committed to contributing to increasing availability of consultant psychiatrists in rural communities. Better access to integrated, community-based models of care and advocating for mental health as a core component of community well-being helps build healthier, more connected, and more equitable rural communities.
